Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri -3.5/5

December 9, 2017

Profanity is 'severe' according to IMDb, and they are not wrong. Three Billboards is quite the darkly comical tale of one woman's urge to get police attention over her missing daughter. Frances McDormand gives an absolutely stellar performance and is sure to get a nomination for Best Actress at next year's Oscars.  The cast is complete with equally compelling performances from Sam Rockwell and Woody Harrelson. While critics are calling this the best film of 2017, that might be an over-praise. This film is one to watch, but it's not the greatest. Finally, what this film wins in is the script - it was smart, witty and finds a way to make you laugh though the topic of discussion is just very dark. Give this film a go if there is nothing else good at the cinemas you would like to see and need a break from the superhero crap.
